THE Forks is adding two new concert series to its summer lineup this year. "This place is going to be the place to be all summer long," said Jim August, CEO of The Forks North Portage Partnership in a news release. Yesterday, The Forks announced a new Move and Groove concert series that will involve the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra playing at the Scotiabank stage every Thursday from July 13 to Aug. 10. Also, Salsa Sundays begin on July 16 and run every Sunday to Aug. 13. "For everyone who likes salsa music, wants to learn it or just loves to watch it, this is a series for you," said Paul Jordan, CEO of The Forks. Both concert series are free to the public. The new skateboard park at The Forks is also slated to officially open on June 30. The park opening will be accompanied by performances by local indie bands and renowned skateboarder Steve Berra doing demonstrations. "We can't wait to open The Plaza and get kids out there skating," Jordan said. "We know it's going to be a day we never forget." The summer season at The Forks officially kicks off on June 9 with the first summer concert -- Kidstock -- at the Scotiabank stage
